Playing the Angel: é o décimo primeiro álbum de estúdio da banda inglesa de Synth Pop, Depeche Mode. Lançado em 17 de Outubro de 2005, é o primeiro álbum a ter Dave Gahan, o vocalista da banda, como compositor também. É também é a primeira vez que Gahan canta como vocal de apoiodesde 1990, na faixa "Macro".

É considerado um álbum menos eletrônico que os seus antecessores e também considerado como um dos melhores trabalhos da banda nesse novo século pela maioria dos fãs e grande parte da crítica. O nome "Playing the Angel" foi escolhido devido a letra da música "The Darkest Star", mas há várias alusões à anjos pelo álbum, como em "John The Revelator". Site: wikipedia
